FAQ

  • What technology do I need in order to participate in the live workshops?
All of our workshops will take place over Zoom, which is commonly used and very accessible. To get the most out of your experience, we recommend you download the latest version of the software (you will not need a subscription) and we suggest you keep up with any updates.
  • What if my wifi is weak during a workshop and I miss something?
A suggestion is to turn off your camera (plus every participant will be muted) to conserve your connection if your wifi is weak. And please don’t worry if there is anything you miss - everything will be recorded.
  • What if I am away or can’t make it to a workshop?
Don’t worry at all! Everything from our workshops, lectures, film screening and panel discussion will be recorded for you to enjoy and catch up later on!
  • How will I receive the recordings and how long will I have to catch up on the recordings?
All recordings will be available via a private link until December 31st 2024, so you will have access to these for 5 months.
  • How do I submit questions to the panel discussion?
It’s very simple! Just drop us an email with your questions to raksdunyafestival@gmail.com up until 12pm on Sunday 21st July. We will try to address as many questions as possible during the discussion with our experts.
  • Will I need props or any special clothing for any of the workshops?
Please come comfortably in whatever you can dance in! Here are some recommendations that are optional, depending on the workshop you are attending: Body Prep and Floor work workshop: a yoga mat or dancer knee pads Turkish Oryantal workshop: Please bring a veil. Dance heels are optional but not necessary. Halay (Turkish Folk) workshop: trainers recommended (or socks on carpet). Bare feet not advised. Azerbaijani workshop: bring something sturdy to hold onto e.g. a chair, a barre or a countertop nearby.
  • Does every physical dance workshop have a warm up or cool down?
This is ultimately the decision of the teacher. Many of the workshops will have a brief intro and warm up at the beginning, but due to them only being an hour and a half and back to back, this isn’t guaranteed. Our advice is to allow time to spend 5 minutes or so warming up before the workshop commences and cooling down or stretching straight afterwards just in case.
  • How will I receive the zoom link?
Zoom links to the workshops will be emailed to you in advance.
  • What if I am late for a workshop?
That is ok and understandable. There will be a waiting room (open 10 minutes before the workshop), but if you join later, one of our team will let you in. Each participant that joins will be automatically muted. We ask that you please keep your microphones muted throughout and if you have any questions, type them in the chat.
  • Do I have to turn my camera on?
This is entirely up to you. If your wifi is strong enough, we recommend switching on your camera so that the teacher can interact with you or give you feedback if they feel it is necessary.
  • Does my pass cover all workshops?
Yes! It covers all workshops, lectures, the film screening and access and entry to the panel discussion plus all recordings.
  • Once purchased, can I choose to cancel my pass?
Due to the workshops being recorded and special offers, passes unfortunately are non-refundable or exchangeable.
  • What is the general level of each workshop?
All workshops will be accessible for intermediate to professional dancers and teachers, with exercises and options given to suit different levels.
